The Staff Welfare Committee organized an Awareness Session on “Psychometric Test” with the aim of helping staff understand the importance and uses of psychometric testing. The session was graced by the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including Dr. Vaishali B. Patil (IMRD Director), Dr. Manoj N. Behere (Asst. Director, HOD, MCA & MCA (Int.)), Dr. Manoj B. Patel (IQAC Coordinator), and Dr. Tushar R. Patel (HOD, BCA, BBA & BMS). The session commenced with Mrs. Jyotsna Mali presenting a brief introduction of the resource person, Dr. Nagesh Rajopadhye. Following this, Resp. Dir. Dr. Vaishali Patil elaborated on the objective of organizing the session and emphasized its significance for both teachers and students. Dr. Rajopadhye started his talk by sharing his experience of working in the field of psychometric testing for the last 7–8 years. He explained how psychometric tests help in understanding behavior, personality, and mental health. He gave detailed information about digital platforms that are used for proactive screening. These platforms generate reports on issues such as internet addiction, depression, and anxiety.
He also presented results from more than 5,000 student tests, which showed that female students reported higher levels of depression. He further explained the causes of mental health problems and possible ways to prevent them. He highlighted the do’s and don’ts for teachers and the importance of their role as mentors. He stressed on skills such as active listening, providing emotional support, and reducing stigma about mental health. He also explained why many people avoid taking help for mental health issues. The session ended with an interactive question and answer discussion, where teachers asked their doubts and received useful guidance from the resource person. Once the session concluded Resp. Dir. Dr. Vaishali Patil, expressed her appreciation for the resource person and emphasized the importance of creating awareness about psychometric tests.
